But, please 🙏 don’t tell my mother that I said that.
𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵?
When I see a giant mess like this in our house, I 𝘤𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘦.
Everything in me wants to scurry down on my hands and knees and clean it up as quickly as possible.
Sometimes, it is a conscious effort (often involving aggressive chain-gum-chewing) to resist the urge to just “𝘵𝘪𝘥𝘺 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘪𝘵 𝘶𝘱” as they are playing.
Here’s the thing…. those urges are probably more about 𝙢𝙮 𝙤𝙬𝙣 hard wiring.
Here’s the 𝘽𝙄𝙂𝙂𝙀𝙍 𝙏𝙃𝙄𝙉𝙂-
That authentic, messy, free, self-directed play?
It’s 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠.
It’s the single best way for them to learn, explore, experiment, investigate, communicate, discover…. all of it.
Allowing room for that 𝙙𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙩𝙚 our own hard wiring?
That’s 𝙈𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙙.
