housekeeping does not equal motherhood

𝙃𝙤𝙪𝙨𝙚𝙠𝙚𝙚𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙜 does NOT 🙅🏻‍♀️ equal 𝙈𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙙.

But, please 🙏 don’t tell my mother that I said that.⁣

𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵? ⁣

When I see a giant mess like this in our house, I 𝘤𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘦. ⁣

Everything in me wants to scurry down on my hands and knees and clean it up as quickly as possible. ⁣

Sometimes, it is a conscious effort (often involving aggressive chain-gum-chewing) to resist the urge to  just “𝘵𝘪𝘥𝘺 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘪𝘵 𝘶𝘱” as they are playing.⁣

Here’s the thing…. those urges are probably more about 𝙢𝙮 𝙤𝙬𝙣 hard wiring. ⁣

Here’s the 𝘽𝙄𝙂𝙂𝙀𝙍 𝙏𝙃𝙄𝙉𝙂-⁣

That authentic, messy, free, self-directed play?⁣

It’s 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠. ⁣

It’s the single best way for them to learn, explore, experiment, investigate, communicate, discover…. all of it.⁣

Allowing room for that 𝙙𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙩𝙚 our own hard wiring?⁣

That’s 𝙈𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙙.⁣
