It’s officially summer, which means it’s time to shed those winter layers and live in a little less clothing! We know it’s uncomfortable, dropping the towel and stepping out in a bathing suit. You know what would be amazing? A hype man! Someone to get you psyched before you frolic on the beach or at the pool.
A comedian named Kev has just the thing. We dare you to watch this video and not smile.
While it’s tempting to make excuses for our lack of ‘summer body’, or wear a t-shirt over our swimsuits, or sit in the shade, Kev has the right idea. The beach is going to get whatever body he gives it. My personal favorite line? “My beach body’s on backorder, it’s on delay 7-10 business YEARS.”
Let’s make summer the season we bite back against body-shaming and unrealistic standards of beauty. We’re parents. We have been through a lot. Let’s tell that ocean (or pool, or lake, or back yard) what kind of body we’re bringing to it!
Rachel is a wife and mother living in Raleigh, North Carolina. She’s a fan of good coffee, wearer of gray t-shirts, and is constantly starting books she will never finish. Her family is her joy, and she loves to engage with other moms and dads on matters of parenting. Her blog posts have also been featured on the Today Show Parenting Blog and Scary Mommy.

I love to see men and women embracing their bodies! Too often we try to be barbie and ken
I love my husband’s Dad bod! How could I not, just as he loves my Mom bod?
enjoy yourself instead of worring about what others think, live your life!
Wish I could be as proud of my body as he was!

You were right! That made me smile. I don’t believe I’ll be so bold to be splashing in my own kiddie pool in my yard with what I’m working with right now but great for him! 😀
Hallelujah to Kev for embracing his of the moment bod instead of shying away from the beach or other fun things he wants to do because he feels he does not measure up. This made me smile and laugh and I think Kev is great. Thanks for sharing!
Que guay 😎 ya llega el verano
Love it! Be proud to be you!
