MCA: Hi Diana, thank you for joining us today, and congratulations on your Mom’s Choice Award! BEECure After-Sun Lotion is an outstanding product that’s perfect for anyone experiencing issues with their skin, especially those caused by sun exposure. The soothing nature is fantastic and immediate, making BEECure After-Sun Lotion a no-brainer for a go-to skincare product. I’d first like to start the interview by finding out about your background as well as the background of your co-founder and husband, Kenneth?

Diana: SanMelix was founded in 2016 by myself and my husband, Dr. Kenneth A. Sabacinski, a Harvard-trained, board-certified surgeon, dedicated more than 30 years of his life to the foot and ankle medicine and surgical treatment of limb-threatening and chronic wounds.
I am a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) with more than 25 years of public accounting and C-level management experience in the service, manufacturing, distribution, government contracting, and health care industries. I am also an Entrepreneur and co-founded a company, which was listed on the INC 500 Fastest-Growing Private Companies.
Together, our combined experience provides significant clinical proficiency, financial management, and government contracting experience.
MCA: Why did you want to have a strong focus on buckwheat honey within BEECure ®After-Sun Lotion?
Diana: Dr. Sabacinski chose buckwheat honey instead because of its superior healing properties. Studies have shown buckwheat honey has higher anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant fortified with antibacterial compounds over other types of honeys. Calendula was added for its soothing, hydrating qualities.
We chose buckwheat honey because studies have shown that buckwheat honey has superior inherent healing properties when compared to manuka honey due to its higher anti-inflammatory and higher anti-oxidant activities. I
Since sunburn is a type of radiation burn, medicinal honey was shown in studies to be more effective in pain relief, itching and irritation on radiation burns than conventional treatments. We added calendula, which has been shown in studies to be highly effective to soothe, hydrate, and revive skin damaged by radiation. In addition, other natural ingredients that help with the side effects of sunburn include shea butter, rosemary, and willow bark. All these ingredients soothe, hydrate and revive skin.
MCA: I’ve seen some of the rave reviews BEECure ®After-Sun Lotion has received online, people absolutely love this product! How has BEECure® After-Sun Lotion been changing lives by increasing overall health and happiness?

Diana: Sometimes it seems that no matter how vigilantly we apply sunscreen, we end up with sun damage. Maybe you missed a spot, forgot to reapply after swimming, or dashed outside only for a few minutes to find the sun more intense than expected. Regardless of how it happened, skin sometimes gets burnt–from the sun and even beauty treatments like lasers and waxing.
Honey has been used as a remedy for sunburn for hundreds of years and has more benefits than the commonly-used aloe vera. The buckwheat honey used in BEECure has even MORE medicinal-like qualities, especially when combined with other natural ingredients like calendula.
MCA: Having a product that was made completely from natural ingredients was obviously a big priority to you when creating BEECure® After-Sun Lotion. Tell us about your natural ingredient approach while creating BEECure® After-Sun Lotion!
Diana: When it comes to treating the human body, there are more options than ever. With the power of nature, SanMelix Laboratories utilized the bioactive medicinal properties of buckwheat honey for wounds and burns, the calming of anti-inflammatory calendula, and other natural ingredients such as Bisabolol, an anti-irritant derived from German Chamomile; Rosemary Essential Oil for skin hydration; Jojoba Oil, a soothing emollient; Karité Shea Butter, made from shea butter to revive dry skin; and Willow Bark Extract for its skin-protective effects.

In addition, we are currently in the middle of an equity crowdfunding campaign, in which anyone, even those with no investment or business experience, can support products and companies they believe in.
