MCA: Hi Jodi, thank you so much for joining us again! We’re thrilled to get the chance to chat with you a bit about your award-winning book, The Dirt Girl! Can we first start the interview by getting to know a bit about you?
Jodi: I am the founder of Jodi Dee Publishing. I am a mother of three and a passionate advocate of early childhood education. I self-published my first children’s book in 2019, The Dirt Girl, which won multiple awards and became a best-selling title on Amazon.
MCA: What was your path to becoming a writer like? What inspired you?
Jodi: I always loved to write, but primarily focused on non-fiction, self-help until my children were born. After reading thousands of books I started to get inspired with characters and ideas.
MCA: What was your inspiration for writing The Dirt Girl?
Jodi: I love the magic of the natural world. I wanted to create a title that showcased this, as well as bring self-empowerment into the story, in a unique way.
MCA: What are some of the key lessons found The Dirt Girl?
Jodi: This is a very spiritual story that highlights a connection to all things on this planet, that we are never really alone, and that happiness can be found in presence.
MCA: What kind of response from readers have you received?
Jodi: Incredible. The Dirt Girl has won multiple awards and is read in school across the country.
MCA: Tell us the importance of books that highlight differences in children!
Jodi: Each thing on this planet is unique, there is only one of each of us, even snowflakes. If we could learn to appreciate this in each other the world would be a better place.
MCA: If you could ensure readers of your book walk away with one main lesson, what would it be?
Jodi: To love yourself based on the entire essence of you, because you are special.
