Hello, Mom’s Choice readers! For today’s interview, we were able to get with two marketing executives from Pinkfong: Yujin Seol, the global app marketer, and Woonyo Kim, the senior app marketing manager. Their membership service offers unlimited access to more than 30 kids’ apps. Called A World of Play + Learning, Pinkfong Plus offers an imaginative way to learn ABCs, counting, and many other disciplines. These learning and play activities were designed for various developmental stages that helps foster key abilities such as cognition, empathy, and more. Parents can choose the app that best matches their child’s age and interests to meet developmental goals. Pinkfong apps are available on all devices, as users can download them from Apple App Store, Google Playstore, and Amazon app store.
MCA: Greetings, and welcome to you both! Yujin, please tell us about the creation of your company and your current role.
The Pinkfong Company was founded in June 2010 as Smart Study and Smart Books Media. Our brands and intellectual property include Pinkfong and Baby Shark, and they have produced original animated shows, world live tours, and interactive video games. Now, we are now producing playlearning apps with interactive activities.
MCA: What needs were you trying to fill when you created Pinkfong Plus?
There are opinions that media exposure is harmful to children, but we live in a media-driven world, and avoiding it completely is impossible. At an appropriate level, media education can have a positive impact on child development. Accordingly, our team has developed interactive content apps that aid in children’s education and launched the Pinkfong Plus membership service, which allows unlimited access to all content.
MCA: Please tell us about the research that went behind the product’s unique features, and describe these features.
There are times when you are traveling in the car or need to keep your children quiet. Additionally, parents in the 21st century are very busy and cannot always be there to teach their children everything. Pinkfong Plus was developed to assist in these moments. Through Pinkfong Plus, children can satisfy their curiosity and explore new knowledge in subjects such as language, math, and science.
MCA: What age group is the Pinkfong Plus app designed for?
Pinkfong Plus membership is targeting kids under age 6.
MCA: What makes these apps so appealing?
What’s special with Pinkfong apps is that kids can enjoy their first playlearning activities by animated videos and interactive activities with various characters that kids love, for example, Pinkfong, Baby Shark, Bebefinn and Hogi. Pinkfong Plus provides various activities related to cognitive development, EQ development, creative activities, language learning, mathematical learning, nature exploration and social relationships. With Pinkfong Plus, children can independently learn various subjects since Pinkfong apps provide kids’ contents based on the child’s development stage.
MCA: Can you give readers some examples?
Sure. Among our videos, we offer:
- Pinkfong and Hogi’s World Travel: Content in which Pinkfong and Hogi travel to 10 countries, encouraging children’s participation through a quiz corner.
• Baby Shark Dental Play: Based on the dental game popular with children, various treatment methods appear in each episode. It utilizes game play elements in the therapeutic process.
• Peekaboo! Baby Shark’s Caring for His Little Sibling: This is a story about a baby shark taking care of its neighbor’s newborn baby shark, and the ‘peek-a-boo’ game is arranged to provide play time for children.In Games, we offer:
• Talking Game: When you talk to an IP character, the character follows the lines spoken by the user and plays certain motions and facial expressions.
• Nail Game: This lets children decorate the nails of princess characters and create their own special characters.
MCA: What is next for you and your product line?
Our team is constantly developing new interactive contents for kids. Besides Baby Shark apps, we are also producing Bebefinn apps. This year, we plan to introduce an AI content curation function and launch a service that recommends customized content based on children’s preferences.
