Self-love isn’t just about appreciating yourself and understanding your worth – it’s also about treating yourself to all the wonderful things life has to offer simply because you deserve that happiness. And one great way that you can treat yourself and show your self-love is by going on a fun solo date!
For those lovely humans looking for great ways to enjoy a party of one, here are some tips and ideas for how to make the most of your refreshing solo date!
Treat Yourself to a Nice Dinner
The simplest and best way to enjoy a solo date is to treat yourself to a nice dinner. Whether you take yourself out to eat or whip up a delicious meal at home, dinner for one can be a great way to relax, refresh, and enjoy your own company.
Eating out alone can be a bit nerve-wracking at first, and sometimes cooking when you’re the only person there to enjoy the meal can seem redundant or like too much work. However, even if you’re the only one eating, you deserve to have a yummy and delicious meal to help you rebuild your energy.
There are so many ways you can enjoy a solo dinner date – it could be a great time to try that recipe you saw on Facebook last week or go eat at the new restaurant that opened near you. However, if you choose to enjoy your dinner date for one, make sure that you eat until your belly is full and your heart is happy!
Visit a City You’ve Never Seen Before
One thing I’ve always wanted to try as a solo date but have never had the courage to do is go to a new city on my own. A friend of mine loves to travel solo, and hearing her stories and seeing all her cute pictures really inspired me to want to try it out myself!
A day trip to a new city can be the perfect way to get the relaxation you need after a difficult week. Without the pressures of needing to make a plan or fulfill everyone’s needs, you’re free to wander around and discover all the amazing hidden gems waiting for you. A daycation can be such an amazing adventure and a great way for you to find a new favorite spot to visit solo again or bring your loved ones back to enjoy!
Go to the Movies on Your Own
I’ve always heard that a solo date to the movie theater can be an amazing way to watch a new film, but I’ve been too nervous to try it. However, I recently had the chance to go see a new release by myself and it was such a fun and new way to experience going to the movies! I definitely want to try it again the next time a movie I want to see comes to theaters near me.
Going to the movies on your own means you don’t have to stress about whether everyone is having a good time or enjoying the film. You don’t need to argue over the best movie to see or what snacks you want – you’re free to make all the decisions on your own and live your best movie-viewing life.
Buy Yourself Flowers
With any date, including a solo date, there is always an important element of gift giving that can really give a little extra pizzazz to the experience. And while a solo date may not seem like one that requires gifts, it can be a really nice treat for yourself and a fun way to throw in a little something extra for your solo experience.
For those looking to give back to themselves in a small, cute way, flowers can be a great gift for yourself. Either before, after, or during your solo date, take the time to go look at some cute flowers that would add a little beauty to your self-love day. You can choose exactly the flowers you like with no worrying about whether they’re the “right” ones or whether they’re “good enough.” The fun part about a solo date is that you can really never get it wrong!
Take the Time to Enjoy a Museum
For those wanting to try something a little more classical or educational for their solo date, the time you’ve allotted to spend with yourself can be a great opportunity to visit a museum. Whether you go with the classy art museum or the fascinating natural history museum, you’ll have a great time and even learn a little something new!
If you’re not sure what kind of museum to go to, do a little research online beforehand and see if there are any new exhibits that interest you. This can be a great way to narrow down your options and ensure that you’re choosing a museum that you’ll have fun visiting!
Have a Spa Day
One of my favorite ways to enjoy a solo date is by having a little spa day just for me. Not only is this a great way to relax and de-stress, it can also have an amazing physical effect on your body! You can either enjoy the spa day at home or book a time at your local spa to enjoy someone else taking care of you.
Whether you keep it simple with a manicure and some bath bombs or go all out and enjoy a massage and a facial, I hope you find the solo spa day to be relaxing and rejuvenating!
Enjoy an Afternoon in Nature
For those who want to experience their solo date in the great outdoors, a fun afternoon in nature can be the perfect way to refresh your mind and your body while enjoying some time on your own. While it can be fun to visit nature with someone else, going outside by yourself to sit in the quiet or take a walk with your favorite music can be an incredible way to decompress and recenter yourself.
Maybe a local park and a picnic is the quiet afternoon you are looking for, or maybe you’re more adventurous and want to try your hand at hiking a new trail – however you enjoy your day out, as long as you’re making the most of the warm sunshine and quiet alone time, then you’ve planned a wonderful solo date!
A Café and a New Book are Always a Good Time
By far one of my favorite ways to have a solo date and treat myself, going to my local bookstore and buying a new novel to read at a nice café is an incredibly relaxing and satisfying experience! I don’t know what it is, but there’s just something about books and coffee that creates the opportunity for me to leave my worries for a little while. I always go home with a little pep in my step and a happy heart.
For those who just want a simple solo date where they can leave their stress behind and get away, a few hours of reading a new book and enjoying the treats at a cute café can be the best way to make the most of your day for yourself!

One Comment on “Party of One: Taking Yourself on a Solo Date”
Well I’ve got to say reading this gave me an idea I should have done before. I don’t feel comfortable eating out alone and I agree on cooking for yourself is just no fun. I do like to go for nature walks on rails to trails but usually take the dogs. They are older and can’t go too far anymore. I do like picnics so I think I should leave the dogs at home once in awhile, which gives me a guilt trip, pack a lunch and go solo to refresh. I absolutely need to spend some time alone as I care for the 2 very young grandchildren 4/5 days a week. There are some very nice people walking the trails and it would also give me time to snap some nature photos. Thanks!
