Have you ever heard of NY NOW Retail Renaissance? It is an awesome home and lifestyle show held at the Javits Center in New York City every February and August. I was lucky enough to attend the most recent show last week on February 2 and 3 and let me tell you it did not disappoint. I saw so many unique exhibitors and also had the pleasure to visit with some Mom’s Choice Award Honorees.
The show highlights the transformative power of art and design. It also features environmentally conscious and socially responsible products from around the world. As someone who appreciates the work behind the finished product and the creativity and commitment it takes to produce these awesome items, I find the show truly mesmerizing. I am in awe of all the exhibitors.
At the show, I learned about therapeutic heat wraps made out of cherry pits. Why cherry pits? Because apparently cherry pits do not grow mold. I touched paper made from 70% elephant poop. That’s right. And it did not stink. I saw flat candles. They really do work! I saw a couple of fashion shows while enjoying mimosas (NY NOW does it up right!). I visited with a few vendors from France who has some really cool products for babies and toddlers. I saw unique Christmas ornaments that tell their story through a lovely children’s book. I got to page through many beautiful children’s books while chatting with authors and publishers. I discovered that dominoes can be stored in beautiful custom-made boxes. And the jewelry!! If I had a jewelry store, I would be changing the stock constantly. I saw so many beautiful and distinctive pieces. I am an earring girl so I was particularly drawn to them as I walked up and down so many aisles. Eleven aisles of jewelry to be exact. And these are really long aisles! As an aside, the Javits Center has 840,000 square feet of exhibit space.
While walking through the Baby and Children section, I saw our Mom’s Choice logo a few times! Maple Landmark Woodcraft, who won our award for their Deep Water Sea Life puzzle in 2019, was showing off their wares including an awesome new puzzle. A couple of other 2019 honorees were also displaying their award-winning products proudly. Amazeko, an honoree for an incredible electric pencil sharpener, was hopping with people loving their stuff. I was able to see and touch Pillowie (part pillow, part stuffed animal and part storage!). What a worthy winner of our award. Pillowie is so soft. The opportunity to talk with and learn more about our honoree’s products is my favorite part of attending trade shows.
I could go on and on describing this exceptional show and the excellent time I had. I am already looking forward to the August show. However, it will be tough to top this one!
