Our pets are our best friends and all pet owners want to do is spoil their babies rotten and shower them with love. With National Love Your Pet Day right around the corner, this is a great time to show your pet just how adored and loved they truly are! Make the day all about them by making fun memories together, feeding them their favorite treats, and spoiling them with everything their little hearts desire.
What should you do to celebrate your adorable best friend on National Love Your Pet Day? Deciding on how to spoil your pet can seem like a tricky task, but don’t worry! We have some great ideas and activities that we know both you and your furry friend will enjoy this February 20th.
Take them out for an adventure
Your pets love going on adventures with you, whether it’s walking around your neighborhood or going on a hike through your local park. To celebrate your best bud on National Love Your Pet Day, take them out for a fun adventure that is sure to have their tail wagging from the moment they step out of the house. For dog owners (or anyone who can easily take their pets out on a leash), this is a great chance to explore a new natural area with your favorite pal. They’re sure to love all the new sights and smells, and it’s a great opportunity for you to enjoy a nice day outside.
If your pet is more of an indoor critter, no worries! Talk to your friend about coming to visit their home for a change of scenery, or look for local cafes, shops, and public spaces that are pet-friendly. There are a lot of great options out there, so just make sure to check online or over the phone to find out if animals are welcome before you visit these new adventure locations.
Stock up on their favorite snacks
Another great way to celebrate National Love Your Pet Day is by stocking up on all their favorite snacks! Your pets deserve a nice treat for being such good and loving friends, so don’t be afraid to be a little more generous with the amount of snacks you give them – it’s a special day after all!
If you want to add a little more of a homemade touch, try baking or cooking them special treats from scratch. There are a lot of great recipes online for healthy and natural snacks for your pets, so you can try out a few and see which ones your little friends like best. Even if they can’t say it out loud, they are sure to appreciate all the extra yummy goodies.
Play games together
All your pet really wants is your attention (and maybe a few extra pet-friendly cookies), so a simple way to show appreciation for your furry friend and celebrate them on National Love Your Pet Day is by playing games together with them. You can do this both outside and indoors by getting all their favorite toys out and playing around until you’re both too tired to keep going!
Playing with your pets is incredibly important for both you and them. Playtime is shown to reduce stress for you and your pet, as well as to improve the mental health and overall happiness of your furry friend. It’s easy to forget about playtime in the general day-to-day rush of work and personal responsibilities, so make sure to use National Love Your Pet Day to play with your pet for as long as they want!
Talk to them
Playtime and snacks are always important, but do you know what else your pet would love to do with you during National Love Your Pet Day? Talk to you! It sounds crazy, I know, but hear me out. Not only does research show that your pet enjoys being a part of your conversations – calm tones can reduce their stress and anxiety, and high-pitched “baby” voices can make them feel excited and happy – but they can also talk back to you!
There is a wide variety of products on the market right now that make it easy for you to talk with your pets and give them the tools they need to tell you what they want. One option is the Talking Pet Starter Set created by Hunger for Words. A Mom’s Choice Award winner, this amazing product allows you to teach your pets how to “talk” using a series of multicolored buttons with prerecorded words and phrases. Follow along with the easy step-by-step teaching guide to teach your pets how to use the four recordable buttons to ask for things like “treat” or “bed.” You can even use your own voice to record the commands, making them an even more special way for you and your pet to communicate!

Invite all their friends over
What better way to celebrate National Love Your Pet Day than to invite all your pet’s best buds over for a pet playdate? Many pets are social creatures and need to interact with other pets to learn how to react to the outside world and new situations in healthy ways. Plus, they get lonely sometimes! And even though you and your family are enough for your furry friend, it’s always good to allow your pet to meet and play with other animals.
If you don’t have the space necessary to have a pet party at home, take your pet to a local park or pet play space and let them roam freely and socialize with other furry pals. This also gives you the opportunity to meet other pet owners and become friends so that you can plan more pet playdates in the future.
Groom them
Your pets love spending quality time with you, and as much as a spa day at a fancy pet beauty salon might sound nice, National Love Your Pet Day should be all about you giving back and showing love to your little friend. Take the day to spoil your pets and take care of all their needs, including their grooming!
Grooming and pampering your pets can be made even easier with products like the award-winning HandsOn Gloves, a pair of revolutionary all-in-one shedding, bathing, and grooming gloves. These gloves are great for all kinds of pets – dogs, cats, and horses included – and they offer an easy way to pamper your pets with a loving massage that will make them feel comfortable, clean, and happy.

Love these great ideas! I often talk to my pet, silly as it may sound, and always have plenty of treats. Now if my pet would let me groom him once in a while I’d be happy!
The ideas were great.
thanks for the great ideas!
People do love their pets now a days. Great article
Every day should be 𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗟 𝗟𝗢𝗩𝗘 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗣𝗘𝗧 𝗗𝗔𝗬, or at least make it a “one day a month” event. lol This is a giving caring celebratory gesture that will not only make your pet feel special and loved, but it will make you feel better as well. Pets are very habitual by nature so if you want to make this day special and memorable, do things differently than your pet’s normal schedule with added bonuses of affection. It is easy to just purchase a special treat or toy, but you should have fun and introduce it with extra hype and expression. No money? No worries!!! Just make 𝗘𝗫𝗧𝗥𝗔 time to engage and appreciate your pet. If you can take (or have someone, take for you) photos and/or videos of you and your pet together, then do it. It is a great way to Document this special, fun bonding day. Also, set it as a repeat reminder on your phone so you can plan for next year … and a tradition is born.
