The Sundown Kid: A Southwestern Shabbat
Written by Barbara Bietz; Illustrated by John Kanzler; Edited by Steve Floyd
During the early days of settling the “Wild West,” there were many Jewish families who became fearless pioneers seeking to create new communities in the desolate terrain. In this story, a young boy and his family move to the desert Southwest where they are the only Jewish family in their small town. Despite keeping busy with chores, adapting to their new home among strangers proves challenging. Every Shabbat, Mama complains that there is “too much soup, not enough family.” The young boy has an idea to help relieve Mama”s homesickness and invites their new neighbors for Shabbat dinner. By honoring the Jewish value of inviting guests into their home for a meal, the family creates a sense of community in their new town.

The I AM Technique – restoring your child’s self esteem in just 10 minutes a day.
The I AM Technique is a ten minute daily audio system to restore self esteem in young children, preteens, and teens so they can be supported and grow into thriving humans.
The program is broken down into four modules.
The first audio for 6-10 yrs. builds positive conditioning around self-esteem, awareness and safety as they step into the world of school, friends and newfound social experiences. It Builds and supports a healthy emotional and mental structure to maneuver those experiences.
The second audio for 11-15 year olds promotes confidence and good decision-making. As children enter middle school. the pressure to fit in, act older and be accepted is immense, and this program creates and supports confidence with affirmations like, “I succeed, I am likable, I make great choices,.
As your teen progresses and develops into an older teenager, pressures shift to driving, getting their first job, college and leaving home for the first time.
The audio program for 16-20 year olds is where more distinctive affirmations come into play. For example, “I move forward with confidence and ease and I have everything I need to succeed.” and are designed to permeate the subconscious and create neural pathways with positive reinforcement for this age group.
The technique is broken down into two audios, one upbeat to engage the child in the morning while brushing teeth, or after school while doing homework or working out. The second is set to serene atmospheric music to which your child can fall asleep. The guided visualizations are included to support your child in relaxing as well as cultivating a safe place for them to go and just be themselves.

They are like nature’s tiny periscopes, allowing them to peer safely out of their holes. Sand crabs are a joy to watch. They scurry about at speeds close to 15 feet per second back and forth from their burrows and then peek out to see if it is safe to come out again. Stalk Eyes is the story of a special Fiddler Crab with exceptionally tall eyes. With its cast of endearing characters, endless humor, and playful illustrations, Stalk Eyes captures the importance of being kind to others. After being teased at school for being different, Stalk Eyes uses his exceptionality to save the lives of his classmates. It’s true—heroes do come in all shapes and sizes, as shown by this special Fiddler Crab! Let’s join together to embrace the importance of individual acceptance. Be kind to everyone around you.
