Surrounded by Love: An Open Adoption Story
Written by Allison Olson; Illustrated by Darlee Urbiztondo; Edited by Bobbie Hinman
This modern take on the “where did you come from?” adoption book celebrates open adoption. Through words and illustrations, the characters express the immense amount of love that everyone involved in the process feels for the adoptee.
This story is narrated by Wanda, a wise old owl who has flown all around, seen many things, and has a story to tell. She watches the birth mother and adoptive parents as they all prepare for the birth and adoption of the young adoptee. This story shows how both sides of open adoption are centered in the love of the child.
The uniqueness of this book comes from the fact that it was written by an adoptee who is also an adoptive parent. These experiences give her a unique, inside perspective. The author wants all adoptees to know that they are surrounded by love.

King of Glory: His kingdom was seized. But He’s taking it back.
Written by P. D. Bramsen; Illustrated by Arminda San Martín
With plain yet profound text alongside 70 bright and bold illustrations, KING of GLORY tells the story of the Creator-Owner of the universe and His plan to rescue His rebellious subjects from the kingdom of darkness. For a worldwide audience of all ages. In many languages. Available as a word-for-word movie in scores of languages. www.king-of-glory.com
“This book is incredible. This is God’s story of romance and redemption, broken down into 70 scenes, each with it’s own beautiful full page painting. The seriousness of sin and how it separates us from our Creator is not sugar glossed over. The first 19 scenes gets us up to Adam and Eve being banished from the garden. Did you catch that? 19 pages (out of 70!) to tell us about God’s plan for creating the world and the fall of mankind. If there is one thing I want my sons to understand it is their complete and utter need for a Savior. Those first 19 scenes clearly and brilliantly pave the way into the rest of the story – the story of a King who is romancing and wooing a fallen and broken world back to Himself.” — Jessica, Customer Amazon review

Friends Lift You Up
Written by Lotus Kay; Illustrated by Chey Diehl
The newest title in the award-winning children’s book series by youth author Lotus Kay, Friends Lift You Up, tackles the subject of anti-bullying, how to be a good friend, and being kind towards others.
Friends Lift You Up tells the story of April and her best friend Tyla and how they sometimes don’t treat each other the way best friends should. The book explores how their friendship evolves and delves into a number of issues kids deal with socially. An added bonus to the book is “Tips on Being a Friend” as well as Lotus’s “Note from the Author” which outlines her story of feeling left out while in school and how hard it was to form friendships. “The relationships we have and how we treat others early in life can set the foundation for the relationships we have now and how we continue to treat others as we grow up.” The book is beautifully illustrated by artist Chey Diehl and published by Eifrig Publishing on recycled, acid-free paper.
Lotus began writing as a child and was published in magazines by age 15. She wrote her first book, More Beautiful Than Heaven, at age 16.
The books are part of the campaign Bears for Cares, founded by Lotus and her sister Jazmin as a project of Jane Goodall Institute’s Roots & Shoots youth service program. Bears for Cares is a series of children’s books with companion stuffed animals which aims to educate kids around the world to understand the state of wildlife, the planet and promoting kindness towards the Earth and all living things.

Fences: A Tile-Laying Game
Fences is a tile-laying game in which you are a farmer trying to build pens for your animals. On each turn, a player plays one of the two tiles that they have. After placing, the player can decide whether to claim an unclaimed field. If a field has been closed, it is scored accordingly. To end the player’s turn, a new tile is drawn.
There are fields for cows, meadows for sheep, and mud holes for pigs. You are trying to collect as many animals as you can. Every animal you enclose is worth points, and double points if you FENCE in only one type of animal in the pen. You can also throw other animals into your opponents’ perfect fields to keep them from the bonus. Careful, you can only afford to maintain a limited number of fields. The game ends after the last tile is placed. The farmer with the most points wins!
